Commercial insurance brokerage

Specialty Coverage for Complex Business Risks

Trident Global Strategies operates as a specialty insurance broker serving commercial clients whose risk profiles exceed the appetite of standard market carriers. We access admitted, E&S, and surplus lines markets to place coverage that protects your business, your balance sheet, and your stakeholders.

Our brokerage approach

Beyond the Standard Market

Most commercial insurance buyers are well-served by standard carriers — until they are not. When your operations involve elevated liability exposure, hard-to-place property, professional risk, or industry-specific hazards, you need a broker with direct access to specialty and surplus lines markets. That is what we do.

  • Access to E&S and surplus lines carriers
  • Program-level relationships with wholesale brokers, specialty MGAs, and Lloyd's coverholders
  • Manuscript policy negotiation for non-standard exposures
  • Risk consulting integrated with placement strategy

How we work

The Trident Brokerage Process

We follow a disciplined, consultative process that treats every client engagement as a risk management problem — not just a coverage transaction.

01

Risk Discovery

We begin with a structured review of your operations, contracts, financial exposure, and existing coverage. This surfaces gaps, redundancies, and uninsured risks before we approach any market.

02

Market Strategy

Based on your risk profile, we identify the optimal carrier mix — admitted, E&S, or program market — and develop a submission strategy designed to generate competitive terms from the right underwriters.

03

Placement & Negotiation

We negotiate policy terms, conditions, and pricing directly with underwriters. Our program-level relationships and technical credibility produce better outcomes than standard retail submissions.

04

Delivery & Stewardship

Coverage is bound, documented, and explained in plain language. We remain engaged through the policy period — managing endorsements, certificates, audits, and renewal strategy.

Buyer's guide

What Commercial Buyers Should Know

Specialty insurance markets operate differently from standard commercial lines. Understanding how they work helps you make better decisions and avoid costly coverage gaps.

Admitted vs. Non-Admitted Carriers

Admitted carriers are licensed by your state's insurance department and backed by the state guaranty fund. Non-admitted (surplus lines) carriers are not licensed in the state but are approved to write coverage that admitted markets won't touch. Surplus lines carriers offer broader forms, higher limits, and more flexible underwriting — but they are not backed by the guaranty fund. For most specialty risks, the trade-off is worth it.

Why Standard Markets Decline Specialty Risks

Standard carriers use actuarial models built on large pools of homogeneous risks. When your operations fall outside those models — unusual occupancy, elevated liability, prior losses, or emerging risk categories — standard underwriters either decline or impose restrictive exclusions. Specialty and E&S markets exist precisely to serve these risks with manuscript forms and individualized underwriting.

Reading Your Policy: What Actually Matters

Most commercial buyers focus on premium and limits. Experienced risk managers focus on exclusions, conditions, and definitions. A policy with a $5M limit and a broad pollution exclusion may leave you with no coverage for your most significant exposure. We review policy language with you — not just the declarations page — before binding.

The Role of the Surplus Lines Broker

In most states, surplus lines coverage must be placed through a licensed surplus lines broker who has first diligently searched the admitted market. Trident Global Strategies holds the necessary licenses and maintains the diligent search documentation required by state law. This protects you from coverage disputes and regulatory exposure.
